Adult Day Care

Mom finally got to the point that she couldnít live at home alone. My brother and I have taken turns caring for her in our own homes. He just moved to another state and I now have a full time job. What do I do?I donít want to put her in the nursing home yet because she and I still enjoy our time together, I just need a place during the day while Iím at work.

Adult Day Care is the answer. Many nursing homes offer this service. You bring Mom in the morning when you go to work and pick her up on your way home.Sound great? It is!While youíre slaving away, Mom is interacting with the staff, other residents, and other visitors at the nursing home. She eats well, (you donít have to do the dishes), and participates in the activities she chooses. They can make sure she gets her medications, (the right ones), do the dressing on her big toe, and provide any other care she needs.

Rates vary and you want to make sure you understand exactly what is included in the rate.Check to see which meals are included and what other charges may be added, for instance incontinent supplies, dressings, etc.
